Toronto Pearson Terminals: A Practical Guide

Toronto Pearson runs two passenger terminals, numbered 1 and 3, and your airline assigns the one you use. Check the terminal on your ticket or the airline's app before the day, and give it to your chauffeur so the pickup point is clear.

Which terminals does Pearson have?

Toronto Pearson serves passengers through Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Terminal 1 is the larger of the two. Terminal 3 is the smaller building. Each has its own arrivals and departures levels, and each has its own curbs.

Pearson is in Mississauga, west of downtown Toronto, so both terminals are reached by the same highway network. Knowing which building you need is what matters, not the road you take.

How do I find out which terminal I need?

Look at your booking confirmation, boarding pass or airline app. The terminal is usually printed there. If it is not, the airline's own website or the flight-status page of the airport will tell you.

Do this a day before. Airlines can change gates and sometimes shift a flight between buildings, so check again on the morning of travel. A terminal mix-up at the curb is easy to avoid and annoying to fix.

What if I end up in the wrong terminal?

The two terminals are linked by a free airport train, so you can move between them without going outside. Allow extra time for the walk to the station and the ride, particularly with children or heavy bags.

If you are flying out, move quickly: security lines, check-in deadlines and boarding times are set by the airline. For arrivals, tell your chauffeur straight away where you are so the pickup point can be adjusted.

How does terminal choice affect an arrival pickup?

On an arrival, your chauffeur needs the terminal, the airline and the flight number. With those, the plan states where to meet you. Without them, the office has to ask, so send them with the quote request.

After you land, you still need to clear immigration if you came from abroad, collect bags and walk out to the pickup area. Message or call your chauffeur when you are on the way out. Our pickup planning guide walks through that moment in detail.

How does it work for departures?

On a departure, tell us the terminal and airline when you book, and the pickup is planned back from your check-in deadline. The chauffeur drops you at the departures level of the right building.

If your airline moves to a different terminal after you booked, tell the office at once. Our note on leaving early enough for Pearson explains how to set the pickup time.

Quick answers

Pearson terminal questions

Cannot find your answer? Call or email us and we will help.

Do all airlines use the same terminal at Pearson?
No. Airlines are divided between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Your airline's own information tells you which one applies.
Can my chauffeur wait at either terminal?
Pickups are arranged for either terminal. Your confirmation names the spot to find your chauffeur after baggage claim.
What if my connecting flight leaves from the other terminal?
The airport train links them. Follow the airline's connection instructions and allow generous time for the transfer.
Are there separate pages for each terminal?
Yes. See our pages for Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.
Is Pearson the only airport I might use near Toronto?
No. Some travellers also use Billy Bishop or Hamilton. Each has its own pickup plan.
